This is my Mopar:
This is my 1987 Dodge Sno commander, (W250 LE). I paid only $300 for
this truck almost 6 years ago. It had been sitting for 14 years with the
hood propped halfway open. It only had 64,000 miles on it and the plow
was attached and there was a 24ft boat attached to it. As excited as I
was, I managed to get the boat off the truck and down the driveway by
hand using a tow strap tied to the bumper. As I was only 17 when I got
this truck I forgot to set the pin on the boat trailer and when I was
moving it out of the way it popped off and hit a brand new school bus
across the street where I was temporarily putting it. The seller of the
truck, his neighbor and I got over this mishap. Shortly after I got the
truck home I started noticing some strange things about the suspension
and 4x4 set up. It turned out to be a true 1 ton set up on a 3/4 ton
frame. Dana 60's front and rear, 4;10 gearing, np205 gear driven
transfer case (no chain) 7 leaves on each corner with a full skid plate.
there was more. the sno commander I purchased was the heavy duty of
heavy duty besides it not being dully or on a real 350 frame which is 1
inch taller, it has the heavy duty 4 spring commercial plow. It turns
out to be a 5.9 ltr 360 engine that started up after some engine service
and I changed all the fluid. it has factory galvanized under coat witch
i herd was a hot dip ? anyway the motor , trans , axels and transfer
were all good i changed all the rubber i could find on this truck, i
changed all the lines with coated lines and brass freeze out plugs. YES
I plow snow with this truck, YES it is unstoppable. I hope to one day
soon have it restored and take it to shows with my 93 w350 extended
Cummins. This is truly my favorite pick up truck!
