1972 Dodge Demon 340 |
By Magnus Björnebäck |

I have a somewhat special 1972 Demon 340,
the history of the car is that it's original owner in the U.S. usually
used the car to go fishing! In -76 the car was shipped to Sweden in it's
original shape in all black with flat black stripes. In -77 it saw Swedish
roads after some difficulties with registrations, it was considered as a
dangerous car with it's powerful engine, wide rally wheels, and most of
all the heart-stopping dual scoop. The scoop was never accepted by the
Swedish authorities but it's easily taken off. The Demon was kept in fair
condition all the time in the first owners hands even though it made a
12.90 run in -87 with 8 3/4" Turbo Action converter, manual valve body and
5:13 in the stock 8 3/4 rear end. After 21 years I had the honor to be the
second Swedish owner and the car had 69.000 miles on the speedometer. I
have not done much with the Demon since , only done what it was intended
to do, cruising on the sunny days, and racing on the hot nights. This car
will never have a new owner as long as I live, it's amazing. Only last
week I found some fishing gear stuck in the narrow parts of the trunk,
belonging to that fishing man who first bought the Demon.. to go fishing. |
