1964 Plymouth Sport Fury. My
dad and I saved this 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury from a junk yard, and
restored it to almost perfect condition. I remember this girl back in my
high school she drove this car to school almost everyday, and I had my
eye on it all the time hoping she would sell it. Lots of people asked
her if it was for sale, then one day I never saw the car anymore.
Then one day when my dad and I were at a junk yard looking for parts for
my 1968 Camaro we both saw the Sport Fury at the junk yard, my first
reaction was S***! I remembered this car! I Looked at it more carefully,
and saw some papers in it and saw some photos and it was that same girl
I saw at the school, I couldn't believe it, it was the car that I've
always wanted to get. We knew this car could be easily restored, it took
a lot of convincing and negotiation with the guy at the junk yard to
sell it to us. We got a good deal for it and took it home, and we
restored it to almost perfect condition.
We learned the story of the car from the guy at the junk yard, turns out
the stupid girl who crashed it wasn't going to restore it, she had it
sent off to a junk yard to be crushed, because the insurance company
said it would be too expansive to fix. Well the picture proved them
wrong!
It's an automatic 318 poly motor, it was a 4 month restoration, wasn't
very hard to restore and worth the hard work looking for the parts on
this car. All what is needed on this car is a dashboard pad on top, and
a driver side chrome for a sport fury. Hard to find, anyone know where I
could find a replica of it? Please let me know.
