Dodge Custom Royal By

The 1959 Dodge was assembled
in Australia. From what I have read, the cars were imported as knockdown
kits and built in Adelaide. The Dodge is the ultimate big fin cruiser,
with 361 cu in big block V-8 and three speed push button automatic.
Restoration was started by a previous owner. In the early 90's, the body
was sandblasted back to bare metal and primed, but unfortunately many of
the panels were damaged in the process. I purchased the project in 2009
- Lots of panel beating to do!
The rust has been redone and the panels straightened. I have fitted a
complete WH Statesman interior, so she will be nice and comfy. The front
vent has been modified so Vintage Air will fit. The body has been off
the chassis and disc brakes have been fitted front and rear. Rack and
pinion steering has been adapted and a nice coat of gloss black applied.
All new bushes and ball joints fitted up front. Lots of coats of orange
pearl paint and Melissa has worked her magic on the firewall and dash.
Last up a set of Coys for her to sit on.
