1970 Plymouth Duster
340
By Neel Roberts |
Neel purchased
this 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 a couple of years ago. After buying the
car, Neel learned that the Duster was originally purchased in Edmonton,
Canada as a 16th birthday gift. The teen drove the Duster until he went
to college, and then sold the Duster to the seller’s brother. He had
been putting the Duster together to use as a race car. Plans to have
raced the Duster must have fallen through, as it appears the Duster
never saw much track use, and limited road use. |
Neel changed the wheels to
give the Duster a more factory look. He also had the 4-speed rebuilt
added a new clutch and installed the Hurst "pistol grip" shifter. A roll
cage was installed in the Duster by the previous owner.
According to
Neel's research, the Duster was built in Windsor, and is one of only 318
produced in Canada in 1970. The snorkel hood was a factory installed
option. |
Neel has plans
to freshen up the Duster over the next couple of years, including plans
to reinstall the interior carpets. |
