Hi Guys; I'd like to tell you a
bit about my Genuine Australian Chrysler Valiant R/T
E38 Charger for inclusion in mops of the month. It's
in Hemi/Orange and comes with the following options
to qualify for our local 500 mile race back in
1971.The Charger is one of only 211 big tanks for
homologation purposes to race at Bathurst. |
|
The options are:
E38,A84,A66,A95 |
E38 - stands
for engine option 265 cu inline six developed some
280/300 H/P . {inline is fine} and means H/D {3}
speed manual box {8} performance level because
Chrysler at the time needed a light and nimble motor
they could put in a car and have brakes that would
last 500 miles they chose this motor. |
It came with a host of
factory stuff fully floating piston pins larger section rods, larger mains
,shot peened
crank, tool steel balancer 10/1comp full engine
balance. They also called them a six pack straight
from the factory wearing duel throat webers Aluminum
Rocker cover cast headers with pipes added and
aluminum sprayed extractors twin system with upswept
tips. |
A84 - Is what
Chrysler called Their Track Pack, 35 gallon fuel
tank, with twin fillers 16/1 steering 7" mag wheels
finned rear drums with proportioning valve sure grip
diff duel plate clutch. |
A66 - Is the
front guard stripe. |
A95 - Three
spoke wheel reclining bucket seats and sports
instruments bonnet {hood} blackouts. |

Performance times from the era {1971} Magazines: The
Valiant Charger was timed 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 secs,
standing 1/4 mile time of 14.8 @ 91 mph - 100 mph in
17.2The car did the
standing 1/4 14.8 sec with only one gear change this
is consistent with this type of car as it had a very
tall first gear helping it to a 55 mph top speed in
first gear. |
