Hi and greetings from
New Zealand
Attached are a couple of
pictures of my 1970 Chrysler Wayfarer UTE, built in Australia. The
Utes are pretty rare even here now as most were work vehicles and few
work vehicles survive 30 years. It came from the factory with a
245 cid Hemi and 3 speed manual, and when I got it in 1997, it had a
318/904 combo running propane (LPG) with assistance from Edelbrock,
Holley, Mallory and Hurst . It had been used in the forests and was a
real "Bush Pig" The rust was cut out, and combined with a
repaint and fresh upholstery, it now looks respectable. I took out the
propane system during the rebuild. Future plans include replacement of
the LPG system along with fitting a 360 with high compression forged
pistons and a bigger cam. For cosmetics it may get some 15 inch Centerlines
and a SS/AA scoop and rear wheel cutouts. Fuel here costs US$2.50 per
gallon and LPG is US$1.43 with higher octane, hence the reason for going
back.
